After wanting to go there for a while, last night we finaly made it to the Night on the Waterfront at the outdoor theatre concert.
Its a series of free concerts produced by
Esplanade, Singapore's performing art center. I've had the chance to meet one of the person in charge of selecting the artists for this show, it really convinced me of the interest of this initiative.
The idea is to give a place for local artists (Asia) to perform the chosen artist should have a blend of international music and their local music...at least that's how I understood the concept.
Last night's session was
Smooth Grove III, the group playing on stage was Reverse Gravity, I must say it was very pleasant jazz and grove music...but a little disapointing regarding the cultural blend of musics I was expecting. Nevertheless, lets say it was a first attempt, and we will check out more concerts to get the right opinion.
If you want to check out, sunday January 17th features The Force. Thats what Esplanade website says about them : "The Forces come out with a new-age breed of music that infuses Chinese music with different musical and ethnic elements."
