The art project "cities of our world" starts with Singapore

Posted by French Blast on 2/20/2009 06:24:00 PM 1 comments
During the art affair at Wessex, we met Patricia Cabaleiro de Meuser, an artist whose work impressed us. She collaborates with a german photographer Britta Hagemann and the result of our common work is a collage of photos, paintings and other materials. The two artists started a project called cities of our world. They are going to make series of images representing different cities in the world. The first serie starts with Singapore. The other coming cities are Zurich, London, Beijing.

Blue Jazz Cafe

Posted by French Blast on 2/18/2009 06:54:00 PM 2 comments
You would have noticed that we like to hang out around arab street. And one of our favorite place to have drink, dinner or both in Singapore still remains Blu Jazz Cafe. This place is always a good alternative to the crazy but a little bit too sanitized Clark Quay's bars. We like meeting friends there, especially those who wants to walk off the beaten track.

Fabrikade: online t-shirt shop from Singapore

Posted by French Blast on 2/14/2009 03:27:00 PM 0 comments
I found Fabrikade thanks to twitter. Indeed, this platform of microblogging can be useful.
Now, you don't need anymore to go to Haji Lane to buy t-shirts designed by talented and original artists. Fabrikade sells t-shirts but also bags and toys. The designers are mainly singaporeans but some overseas designers are also represented. I love this kind of initiative. If you know other good shop like this one, just leave a comment!

I spotted this artist because he creates a beautiful ad for Tiger beer. No comment (in fact, yes you can leave comment of course!)
And I must admit that his portfolio is quite amazing. His bio is on his blog is a little bit short. You'll learn that Archan is 26 years-old and live in New Dehli!

An Arts Affair @ Wessex -sequel

Posted by French Blast on 2/08/2009 05:11:00 PM 1 comments
Well, that was an interesting saturday afternoon. As mentioned in our previous post, we went to see the Wessex estate artists exposing in their houses/lofts/galeries.
First of all the place is amazing, secluded yet a few stations away form the city center. The Wessex Estate is coverd in wast lawns and tall trees hidding beautiful black and white houses where artist from all over the world live a create. We could enter the places and understand how they create and get to the final result.
Now, not everything was beautiful, but we have spotted great talented artists, already famous...or not.
Among the ones we met and really liked, Yougoslavian artist Milica, Brasilian artist Patricia Cabaleiro de Meuser and Singaporean Chye Lim.

French and Singapore museum partnership

Posted by French Blast on 2/06/2009 03:12:00 PM 0 comments
It would be quite pretentious to think that the partnership signed between La reunion des musees nationaux and singapore art authority was influenced by French-blast...most unlikely. But at least there is a trend there :)
This cooperation patnership was signed between French Bernard Kouchner (who has been a little bit attacked this week if you follow the news) and Singaporean Georges Weo, both ministers of foreign affairs on January 20th. This partnerships aims at bringing to Singapore major exhibitions from Paris. Just to give you an idea, the current exhibits in Paris are: Picasso and the masters is finished last week, shortly to come is an exhibition of Andy Wharol.
This is a great news! I can't wait to have some of it here in Singapore, we'll keep you updated!
